Clinton County hasn't had much luck against Adair County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Indians at 5:00 p.m. Clinton County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Clinton County had taken Cumberland County down for two straight games at home, but that winning streak came to an end on Wednesday. The Bulldogs fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 5-4. The contest marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Clinton County saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tucker Casada, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 1-for-4. With that strong performance, Casada is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game. Matt Duvall was another, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Adair County had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past the Dragons 14-1.
Jasper Kemp made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Kemp was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Adair County got a massive performance out of Zane Gist, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Jagger Kemp, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Adair County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Adair County's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Clinton County, their defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-3.
Monday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Clinton County has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .456. However, it's not like Adair County struggles in that department as they've averaged .441. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
