Baseball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is Fremont's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

Fremont barely beat Syracuse the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Silverwolves put the hurt on the Titans with a sharp 12-5 victory on Tuesday. Considering the Silverwolves have won 11 matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Chase Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Owen Simkins, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, one triple, and one run. Those six RBI gave him a new career-high. Adam Mikesell was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fremont kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive games.

Fremont has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Syracuse, they have been struggling recently as they've lost nine of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Fremont will have a chance to go back-to-back against Syracuse: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
