Amundsen is 0-3 against Whitney Young since May of 2023 but things could change on Saturday. The Vikings will face off against the Dolphins at 4:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Whitney Young will be up against a hot Amundsen team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Vikings never let Payton College Prep get on the board and left with an 11-0 win on Tuesday.

Allie Reynolds was a major factor no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Ashley Ellevog was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Lydia Hulliberger was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Amundsen always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Payton College Prep only posted an OBP of .238.
Meanwhile, Whitney Young came tearing into Tuesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Eagles 16-0.
Like Amundsen, Whitney Young also got a great game from a two-way player: Claire Swanborn. Throwing, Swanborn tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Sarah Alvarez pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At bat, Swanborn went 1-for-2 with one triple and one RBI, while Alvarez got on base in two of her three plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Whitney Young let Mara Finnigan and Itzel Jaime run wild. Finnigan went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs, while Jaime went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Savannah Sojka, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Whitney Young pushed their record up to 19-10-1 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Amundsen, their victory bumped their record up to 13-9.
Amundsen might still be hurting after the 13-4 defeat they got from Whitney Young when the teams last played back in April. Can the Vikings avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
