The Silver Fighting Colts struggled with assists on Friday (the Las Cruces Bulldawgs had 1100% more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Silver was beaten by Las Cruces 63-34. Silver was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 36-12.
Despite the defeat, Silver had strong showings from Juliana Kirker, who scored 8 points along with 5 rebounds, and Kianna Murillo, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds.
Las Cruces' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Bethzy Quinones, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. Aaliyah Morales was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
This is the second loss in a row for Silver and nudges their season record down to 0-2. As for Las Cruces, the win got them back to even at 1-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Silver will take on Cuba at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Las Cruces, they will head out on the road to face off against Sandia at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.
