5A Intermountain recap Oct. 9, 2012
Redmond extended the longest winning streak in 5A Intermountain this week by beating Crook County, 54-22. This was the team's sixth consecutive win.
Mountain View took down Pendleton 55-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Toby Webb threw for 175 yards and four touchdowns in the win.
The Cougars' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Kyler Ayers chipped in 290 yards. Kyle Johnson helped Mountain View's passing attack out by catching one ball for 27 yards.
John Carroll was the best wideout in the league this week as Mountain View topped the Buckaroos. Carroll racked up four receptions for 106 yards.
Kyle Shaver made the biggest impact on defense this week as Brian Crum's team defeated Pendleton. The 6-foot-0 senior racked up 1.0 sack.
Mountain View's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Cougars feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Webb has thrown for 1209 yards and 11 touchdowns this season, while Carroll has 39 catches for 713 yards. Ayers leads the league in rushing with 924 yards.
Ayers of the the Cougars is only 76 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season.
A big matchup in 5A Intermountain this week will be when Bend takes on Redmond. As it stands, the Lava Bears are in fourth, while Dan Elliott's team is in first.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when Bend takes on the Panthers. Matt Craven's team has allowed 152 points this season, while Redmond has given up 71. The Lava Bears allowed 14 points last week as they bested the Storm.
Mountain View led the league in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on Erik Davis' team. Webb in the win.
