Basketball Recap: Laylah Dawkins and Olivia Titherington Secure Win for Lincoln Park Academy

Jensen Beach typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Lincoln Park Academy proved too difficult a challenge. They took down the Jensen Beach Falcons 63-46. The Greyhounds have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Falcons, too.

Lincoln Park Academy was led to victory by Olivia Titherington and Laylah Dawkins. Titherington went 10 of 17 en route to 22 points along with six boards and five steals, while Dawkins went 5 for 9 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and three steals. Dawkins has been hot, having posted three or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ta'Tyannah Thompson, who posted eight points and three steals.

Lincoln Park Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Despite the defeat, Jensen Beach saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayla Brinkley dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Brinkley has scored all season. Danielle Bell was another key player, putting up nine points and five boards.

Lincoln Park Academy's record is now 19-2. As for Jensen Beach, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-5.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lincoln Park Academy will take on Vero Beach at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln Park Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Vero Beach likes a good challenge. As for Jensen Beach, they will face off against Jupiter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Jensen Beach is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.8 points per game this season.
