The North Pontotoc Vikings's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a rough 77-48 loss at the hands of New Albany. North Pontotoc was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-10.
Dee Johnson was his usual excellent self, going 6 for 10 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assists for New Albany. The contest was Johnson's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emanuel Tucker, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
North Pontotoc's loss dropped their record down to 5-8. As for New Albany, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Pontotoc will take on South Pontotoc at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Pontotoc is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games. As for New Albany, they will head out on the road to face off against Senatobia at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Senatobia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 69th, while New Albany is ranked 17th).
