The Oak Ridge Pioneers had already won 17 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.3 points), and they went ahead and made it 18 on Friday. They took down Olympia 87-73. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Oak Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamier Jones led the charge by dropping a double-double on 27 points and 13 rebounds. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Jordan Tillery was another key contributor, scoring 20 points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Olympia's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kameren Wright, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten rebounds. Wright has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Vophcy Prophete, who scored 20 points.
Oak Ridge pushed their record up to 19-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. As for Olympia, their defeat ended a 15-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-5.
Oak Ridge will take on The Rock National at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (The Rock National is ranked fifth, while Oak Ridge is ranked fifth). As for Olympia, they will head out on the road to square off against Edgewater at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Edgewater focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Monday.
