The Gering Bulldogs fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They blew past Mitchell, posting a 63-35 win on the road. That 28 point margin sets a new team best for Gering this season.
Jacelyn Brown was nothing short of spectacular: she scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Neveah Hrasky, who scored 12 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Mitchell still got an impressive performance from Addy Bowlin, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds.
Mitchell struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Gering pulled down 26 offensive rebounds.
Gering's win bumped their record up to 6-14. As for Mitchell, they dropped their record down to 4-18 with that defeat, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.
Gering is on the road again on Friday and plays McCook at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Nebraska (McCook is ranked 119th, while Gering is ranked 134th). As for Mitchell, they will square off against Chadron at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Mitchell focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Tuesday.
