The Kennedy Eagles can finally bid farewell to their six-game losing streak thanks to their game on Wednesday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 60-58 win over Watertown. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Kennedy has posted yet this season.
Terrance Morrison continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 20 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that he pulled down eight or more rebounds. Tyler Morrison was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Watertown's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Justin Davis, who scored 16 points along with two steals. Davis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was John Platt, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Even though they lost, Watertown were working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kennedy only racked up six assists.
Kennedy's victory bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Watertown, they bumped their record down to 2-8 with that loss, which was their 13th straight on the road.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Kennedy will take on Ansonia at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Connecticut (Ansonia is ranked 108th, while Kennedy is ranked 125th). As for Watertown, they will be playing at home against Derby at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
