Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in high school football. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2025 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Lance McGee of
Sumner is the 2025 MaxPreps Washington High School Football Player of the Year. The 6-foot, 215-pound senior running back led the Spartans to an 11-3 record and second consecutive Class 4A state title.
For the season, McGee tallied 251 carries for 2,489 yards and 42 touchdowns. He added eight receptions for 122 yards and another score.
