The Tom Bean Tomcats lost against the Bland Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Tom Bean fell to Bland 42-38. Tom Bean has not had much luck with Bland recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Tom Bean still got an impressive performance from Allie Hickman, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 21 rebounds. Hickman scored a full 39.5% of Tom Bean's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Samantha Lind, who scored eight points along with five rebounds.
Tom Bean has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for Bland, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tom Bean will square off against Whitewright at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Whitewright has insisted on making their lastfour contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-2 during that stretch of close contests. Bland will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Wolfe City at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2024.
