The Southwestern Heights Mustangs are taking a road trip to face off against the Cimarron Bluejays at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwestern Heights is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
On Thursday, Southwestern Heights didn't have quite enough to beat Spearville and fell 5-4.
Julius Trejo put in work no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Trejo was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
Lakin typically has all the answers at home, but on Monday Cimarron proved too difficult a challenge. They blew past the Broncs 9-2. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Broncs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
The team relied heavily on Trace Kopper, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Colby Wilson, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.
Southwestern Heights' defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Cimarron, their win bumped their record up to 14-8-2.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Southwestern Heights hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Cimarron struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Southwestern Heights came out on top in a nail-biter against Cimarron in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 10-8. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bluejays turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
