The Mountain View Academy Mustangs's game on Monday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They walked away with a 52-44 victory over El Primero. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to post seven more assists than your opponent, as Mountain View Academy did.
Mountain View Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Glen Abraham, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Penaflorida, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Several Lobos players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was RICARDO GARCIA, who scored five points along with 20 rebounds and five blocks. GARCIA is absolutely dominating the block category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was GUSTAVO MALVAES, who scored 16 points along with seven steals.
Mountain View Academy now has a winning record of 4-3. As for El Primero, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-11.
Mountain View Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against North Valley Baptist at 5:30 p.m. on January 11th. As for El Primero, they will head out on the road to face off against KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. KIPP San Jose Collegiate will be looking to keep their three-game home win streak alive.
