The Blum Bobcats pushed their score all the way to 57 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Morgan 62-57. While losing is never fun, Blum can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1595th, while Morgan is ranked 790th).
Morgan got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Adrian Alonzo out in front who scored 33 points along with two steals and two blocks. That makes it five consecutive games in which Alonzo has scored at least a third of Morgan's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 21 rebounds.
Blum's defeat dropped their record down to 2-17. As for Morgan, the win was the 13th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Blum will take on Covington at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Morgan, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Walnut Springs at 7:30 p.m.
