The Heritage Hawks will face off against the Garber Dukes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Heritage is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Bay City Western hit Heritage with a four-run first inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Hawks fell 8-5 to the Warriors.
Olivia Hart was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Kelsey Hales was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Garber got the win against Birch Run on Monday by a conclusive 12-2. Considering the Dukes have won ten matchups by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Garber let Shayler McIntyre and Alyssa Bowker run wild. McIntyre went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Bowker went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. Bowker is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Sydney Solinski also deserves some recognition as she launched her first home run of the season.
Garber has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Heritage, their loss dropped their record down to 8-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Heritage has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Garber struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Heritage came out on top in a nail-biter against Garber when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hawks since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
