Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Liberty proved: they limited Staley to a paltry 3.3 yards per carry. That's the most yards per carry they've posted since back in September.
Meanwhile, Liberty North faced Park Hill in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Eagles walked away with a 30-19 victory over the Trojans. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Liberty better keep an eye on Zemar Cheatam. He was instrumental in Liberty North's win, rushing for 158 yards and three scores, while also catching one touchdown. Cheatam is becoming a predictor of the Eagles' success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is 5-1 (and 2-3 when he doesn't).
Liberty North didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Christian Wood, Makhi Robinson-Akins, and Trashundon Neal picked up one apiece.
Liberty's victory bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Liberty North, their win bumped their record up to 7-4.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Liberty has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 282.3 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Liberty North struggles in that department as they've been averaging 180.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Liberty strolled past Liberty North in their previous meeting back in September by a score of 38-22. Will the Blue Jays repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
