Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Sunnyside's Fourth in Last Five Outings

Sunnyside won the last time they faced Tucson High Magnet School and things went their way on Thursday too. The Blue Devils' pitcher stepped up to hand the Badgers a 4-0 shutout. The game was the first time the Blue Devils have beaten the Badgers on their field since February 24, 2023.

SABINO GONZALEZ made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. GONZALEZ was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, LUCAS MATA was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was MICHEL MUNIZ, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Sunnyside has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.4 runs over those games. As for Tucson High Magnet School, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-10 record.

Coming up, Sunnyside will be playing at home against Marana at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Tucson High Magnet School, they will head out on the road to square off against Buena at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Colts will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Badgers surely won't give up without a fight.
