Even though the Concordia Fighting Orioles have not done well against the Wellington-Napoleon Tigers recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Concordia took down the Tigers 47-30. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Concordia also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Wellington-Napoleon's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Melanie Thornburg, who scored seven points along with five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brilynn Zykan, who scored six points along with three steals.
Concordia's victory ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 12-5. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Concordia has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on February 2nd. As for Wellington-Napoleon, they and the Bulldogs will face off at 5:30 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
