Jocelyn Snyder made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, one run, and one double. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 3.2 RBI per game.
In other batting news, Olivia Saxion was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Julie Bertino, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Apollo Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .548. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Leechburg got themselves on the board against Sto-Rox on Tuesday, but Sto-Rox never followed suit. They blew past the Vikings 15-0. While the Blue Devils didn't have the best season last year (they finished 0-5), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Addie Zanotto was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). She also put up a walk, which was her first of the season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ava Ferretti, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. Madison Weitzel was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing six bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
The win made it two in a row for Leechburg and bumps their season record up to 4-1. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Apollo Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Apollo Ridge has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Leechburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .644. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Apollo Ridge's way against Leechburg in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Apollo Ridge made off with an 11-0 victory. Does Apollo Ridge have another victory up their sleeve, or will Leechburg turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
