The Ardsley Panthers will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Rye Garnets at 7:00 p.m. on November 3rd. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Ardsley stacked a fourth blowout onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They blew past Nanuet, posting a 40-7 victory on the road. Given Ardsley's advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 74th, while Nanuet is ranked 234th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Rye had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down Nyack 33-18. Rye's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Rye's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jake Kessner, who picked up 167 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and AJ Miller, who threw for 278 yards and three touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes. Kessner was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 63 yards. Chris Iuliano also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Ardsley's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Rye, their win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2.
Ardsley was dealt a bruising 42-14 loss at the hands of Rye in their previous matchup back in October. Can Ardsley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
