Softball Recap: Ida Comes Up Short

Ida entered their matchup against Milan on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bluestreaks took a 10-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Big Reds. The Bluestreaks were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Big Reds apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in June of 2017.

Lilah Derian was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She struck out six batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and nine unearned) runs off ten hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Jessica Schrader made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Alex Haws, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

Ida suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 10-8. As for Milan, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 13-10 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ida will welcome Monroe at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Milan, they will take on Blissfield at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Big Reds have won three straight at home, while the Royals won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
