Softball Recap: East Central Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

It's playoff time, and East Central had no trouble coming through when it counted. They were the clear victors by a 19-6 margin over the Lake Travis Cavaliers on Thursday. Considering the Hornets have won 15 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Marissa Delgado and Isabella Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Delgado got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI, while Hernandez went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those two doubles gave Delgado a new career-high. Rehana Cuellar was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

East Central has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 21-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.1 runs on average over those games. As for Lake Travis, with the defeat, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 21-10-1.

East Central will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Cavaliers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
