Meanwhile, it may have taken ten innings to finish the job, but Abbeville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Dixie 5-4.
Abbeville's win was truly a team effort as eight different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ben Overholt, who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Seneca's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Abbeville, their victory bumped their record up to 17-4.
Thursday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Seneca hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Abbeville struggles in that department as they've averaged .343. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
