Colusa is a perfect 10-0 against Pierce since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The RedHawks are taking a road trip to square off against the Bears at 4:00 p.m. Colusa is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Colusa lost a heartbreaker the last time they played East Nicolaus, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's matchup. The RedHawks put the hurt on the Spartans with a sharp 6-0 victory on Friday. The result was nothing new for the RedHawks, who have now won 16 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
East Nicolaus' batters probably weren't too happy with Ava Garcia, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 12 Ks (she gave up two walks).
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Braelyn Santana, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Abril Guzman, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Meanwhile, Pierce was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against Durham, falling 11-2.
Pierce saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica Hagle, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, one run, and one RBI.
Pierce's defeat dropped their record down to 6-13. As for Colusa, their win bumped their record up to 17-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Colusa has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pierce struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Colusa's way against Pierce when the teams last played back in May of 2024, as Colusa made off with a 14-0 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the RedHawks since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
