Bluffton extended the longest winning streak in AAAA Region VIII this week by beating Ashley Ridge, 37-20. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Fort Dorchester suffered a letdown when it was bounced from the state Top 25 this week after topping Colleton County. The Patriots had been ranked 24th, but fell to 35.
Bluffton's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. C.J. Frazier threw for 206 yards and Demetrius Smalls had 143 yards receiving. On the ground Tykeem Major chipped in 82 yards. Marquis Webber helped Bluffton's passing attack out by catching six balls for 98 yards.
Bluffton's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bobcats feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Frazier has thrown for 1692 yards and 29 touchdowns this season, while Smalls has 32 catches for 580 yards. Major leads the league in rushing with 448 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Ken Cribb's team takes on Fort Dorchester. The Bobcats are in first place, while Steve Laprad's team is in third place.
The Patriots took down the Cougars 42-7 last week, the largest margin of any game.
