Deep Run is 2-8 against Glen Allen since May of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Wildcats will be playing at home against the Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Deep Run 3.4, Glen Allen 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Deep Run took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand J.R. Tucker a 10-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won six contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Deep Run got a massive performance out of Braelyn Baulsir, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs Baulsir has posted since back in May of 2024. Ella Pawlewicz was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Deep Run kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Glen Allen came up short against Atlee on Wednesday and fell 4-1. That's two games in a row now that the Jaguars have lost by exactly three runs.
Glen Allen saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kenzie Hueston, who went 2-for-3 with one run.
Deep Run's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-5. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Glen Allen, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Deep Run has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Glen Allen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Deep Run might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Glen Allen in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
