The Bellevue Wolverines took care of business in their home opener on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 59-45 victory over Cedarcrest. That's another feather in the cap for Bellevue, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Bellevue got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Selen Morrell out in front who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 11 rebounds. Syesha Simanton was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 8 steals.
Despite the defeat, Cedarcrest saw an underclassman step up: Laine McKenzie scored 14 points along with 5 rebounds and 5 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Decker, who scored 5 points.
Bellevue's victory bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cedarcrest, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.
Bellevue will look to defend their home court on Monday against Seattle Academy at 7:15 p.m. As for Cedarcrest, they will head out on the road to face off against Redmond at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Redmond focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Wednesday.
