Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Wednesday. They came up short against Roncalli, falling 13-0. The contest marked the first time this year in which the Braves were not able to get on the board.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anthony Suscha, who went 1-for-2 with one triple. That triple marked the first that Suscha has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Guerin Catholic faced Andrean in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Golden Eagles lost 17-8 to the Fighting 59ers. The Golden Eagles' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.
Ian Taylor and Nolan Ratcliff did some serious damage despite the final result: Taylor went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Ratcliff went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Karson Smith, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one run and one RBI.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory suffered their first home loss, dropping their record down to 3-5. As for Guerin Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Guerin Catholic struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory was able to grind out a solid victory over Guerin Catholic in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, winning 3-0. Will the Braves repeat their success, or do the Golden Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
