3A West Valley recap Oct. 30, 2012
Dayton extended the longest winning streak in 3A West Valley this week by beating Willamina, 21-12. This was the team's eighth consecutive win.
Colton and Sheridan/Sheridan Japanese played the most hotly contested game in the league this week, with Colton eventually emerging with a 18-14 victory.
Willamina's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Bulldogs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Trevor Hunt has thrown for 611 yards and four touchdowns this season, while Travis Kurz has 12 catches for 204 yards. Tyson Jahn leads the league in rushing with 878 yards.
A big matchup in 3A West Valley this week will be when the Spartans take on Horizon Christian. As it stands, Sheridan/Sheridan Japanese is in fifth, while the Hawks are in second.
The Vikings made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 9,791 from 10,181. The improvement came about via a 18-14 victory over the Spartans last week.
