Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Midland's Ninth in Last 12 Outings

After low-scoring totals in their previous three match, Midland brought some dynamite into their most recent game. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Woodland Warriors 10-8. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Timberwolves have posted against the Warriors since May 13, 2021.

Gavin Traver made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Dom Rosa was incredible, firing off two home runs and five RBI while going 2-for-4. He also scored two runs, which is notable because Midland is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-7-3 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Owen LaRoe, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles.

Midland lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Midland has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. As for Woodland, they dropped their record down to 2-13 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Midland has already played their next matchup, a 5-0 defeat against Dwight on the 29th. Hopefully Woodland paid attention to the Timberwolves' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Timberwolves at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
