Northfield entered their tilt with North White on Saturday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They were the clear victors by an 18-1 margin over the Vikings. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 20-6 on Saturday.
Caleb Dubois and Wyatt Bucher made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Dubois tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Bucher tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Northfield is 3-1 when Bucher allows one or fewer hits, but 7-12 otherwise. At the plate, Dubois went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Bucher got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Bucher has posted since back in April.
In other pitching news, Jacob Nesler looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
Back at the plate, Jaden Baer was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddux Daniels, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Northfield always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .686. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in four consecutive games.
Northfield's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-13. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for North White, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-12.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will challenge Maconaquah at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. As for North White, they will face off against DeMotte Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
