The Kootenai Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 12th straight loss dating back to last season. They took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of Highland. The result was a vexing reminder to Kootenai of the 69-38 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2019.
Highland's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gage Crow, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 assists. Crow set a new season high mark in steals with four. Another player making a difference was Ty Goeckner, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds.
Kootenai bumped their record down to 0-3 with that loss, which was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 29.2 points per game. As for Highland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kootenai will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Genesis Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. As for Highland, they will head out on the road to face off against Genesee at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Genesee comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
