Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only the Mainland Buccaneers walked away with it. They were the clear victor by a 35-14 margin over the Blue Streaks. The result was nothing new for Mainland, who have now won eight matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Among those leading the charge was Dennis Murray jr., who threw for 150 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Sebring to a paltry 175 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Mainland's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid the passer out six times before it was all said and done. Jamison Holliday was especially locked on to Sebring's QB and sacked him twice.
Despite the loss, Sebring still got an impressive performance from Travis Kerney, who rushed for 98 yards on only 12 carries, and also threw for 55 yards and two touchdowns.
The victory was the third in a row for Mainland, bringing their record for this year to 12-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 39.7 points per game. As for Sebring, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 9-3.
Mainland will play host again and welcome Vanguard, where kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Vanguard has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 227 points over their last five games. Sebring does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
