East Bernard had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 win over the Van Vleck Leopards. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 4-3 last Tuesday.
East Bernard got a great performance from Camden Fucik as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Seth Morton was excellent, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Garvel, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
East Bernard's victory bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Van Vleck, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-7.
