Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cranston East). They were the clear victors by a 20-5 margin over the Exeter-West Greenwich Scarlet Knights on Wednesday. Considering the Thunderbolts have won eight contests by more than nine runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Lexi Montalban was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Gianna Tocci was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, one triple, and two RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Alice Billings, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.
Cranston East was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .556. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive matches.
