Rancho Bernardo and Carlsbad are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2022, but likely not for long. The Broncos will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Lancers at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Carlsbad will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Rancho Bernardo extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Broncos were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over Torrey Pines. The Broncos not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since April 11th (when they won 13-4).

NATHAN LING looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April.
At the plate, Brady Strachan was a standout: he went 3-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. He is becoming a predictor of Rancho Bernardo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 10-11 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Owen Glick, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Rancho Bernardo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .514. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Carlsbad). They put the hurt on San Marcos with a sharp 12-5 victory on Friday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Lancers needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Hunter Dawson looked comfortable as he pitched 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jett Kenady was incredible, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Tyler Ward was another key player, going 2-for-5 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Rancho Bernardo's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-11. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.2 runs over those games. As for Carlsbad, their win bumped their record up to 16-10.
Everything went Rancho Bernardo's way against Carlsbad in their previous matchup back in April, as Rancho Bernardo made off with a 13-4 victory. Will the Broncos repeat their success, or do the Lancers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
