Shawnee has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Wyoming Cowboys at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Shawnee knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past six contests -- so hopefully Wyoming likes a good challenge.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Shawnee had no problem doing just that on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Urbana 42-7 at home. Shawnee might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten contests by 28 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, the matchup between Wyoming and Taft on Friday hardly resembled the 7-0 effort from their previous meeting. Wyoming walked away with a 35-26 victory over Taft. Winning may never get old, but Wyoming sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Wyoming's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Joel Hancock, who rushed for 185 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 81 receiving yards. Hancock has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last six times he's played. Quaid Hauer also helped with two touchdowns in total.
Shawnee pushed their record up to 11-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.8 points per game. As for Wyoming, their win bumped their record up to 11-1.
Shawnee took a serious blow against Wyoming in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 35-0. Thankfully for Shawnee, Cj Hester (who rushed for 169 yards and three touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
