Even though the Litchfield Purple Panthers have not done well against the Vandalia Vandals recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Litchfield greeted the New Year with with a 79-63 win over Vandalia. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Litchfield's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Victor Mcgill led the charge by scoring 24 points. Another player making a difference was Keenan Powell, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Litchfield is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Vandalia, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-7.
