Basketball Recap: Southern Wells Makes It Eight in a Row on the Road

Southern Wells lost to Randolph Southern back in December of 2023, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Saturday. The Southern Wells Raiders enjoyed a cozy 65-50 win over the Randolph Southern Rebels. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Raiders.

Ashlie Needler continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine boards. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Davis, who posted seven points and three steals.

Southern Wells smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive boards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Randolph Southern only pulled down four offensive rebounds.

Several Rebels players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haileigh Allen, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 16 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. The contest was Allen's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn Gerber, who put up seven points.

Southern Wells pushed their record up to 12-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.1 points per game. As for Randolph Southern, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-4.

Southern Wells wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-40 loss against Daleville on the 7th. As for Randolph Southern, they will take on Union City in a tournament on Friday. Randolph Southern is facing Union City at the right time seeing as Union City is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
