The Linden Lions will take on the Argonaut Mustangs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Linden's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups.
Linden is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They put the hurt on Bear River with a sharp 14-8 victory. Considering the Lions have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Katie Schallberger was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off eight hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her five plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Olivia Fears, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, she posted four RBI, the most she's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Millee Holguin, who went 4-for-5 with three RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Argonaut never let their opponents score on Friday. They came out on top against Ben Holt College Prep Academy by a score of 3-0. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Bobcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Ben Holt College Prep Academy's batters probably weren't too happy with Kendall Baker, who pitched a no hitter and racked up six Ks (she gave up two walks).
On the hitting side, AJ Schultz was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI.
Linden's record is now 19-6. As for Argonaut, their record now sits at 21-8.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Linden hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .348. However, it's not like Argonaut struggles in that department as they've averaged .363. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
