The Fort Myers Green Wave's's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against First Baptist Academy, falling 46-18. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Fort Myers has scored all season.
First Baptist Academy found their leader in underclassman Ella Johnson, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds and six steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Johnson has scored at least 25% of First Baptist Academy's points. Safaraah Belizaire was another key contributor, scoring five points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Fort Myers bumped their record down to 2-6 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. As for First Baptist Academy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-7.
Fort Myers will take on Winter Springs in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday at. Hopefully Winter Springs focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 last Tuesday. First Baptist Academy will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Lemon Bay at 7:00 p.m. on January 4, 2024.
