In other batting news, Turners Falls let Jackson Cogswell and Trevor Lyons run wild. Cogswell went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Lyons got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI. Cogswell is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games he's played. Curtis Kretchmar was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run.
Turners Falls always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Pioneer Valley Regional put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Hampshire Regional 12-2. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
The team relied heavily on Alex McClelland, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ethan Quinn, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Pioneer Valley Regional's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Turners Falls, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Turners Falls has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Pioneer Valley Regional struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.2 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Turners Falls came up short against Pioneer Valley Regional when the teams last played back in May of 2024, falling 5-0. Will the Thunder have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
