Solanco is 6-1 against Garden Spot since October of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Solanco Golden Mules will head out on the road to face off against the Garden Spot Spartans at 7:00 p.m. Solanco will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Garden Spot is ranked 91st).
Solanco pushed their score all the way to 41 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Fleetwood by a score of 44-41.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Johnny Garcia, who rushed for 126 yards and two touchdowns. Austin Jarabak also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, Garden Spot put the finishing touches on their seventh blowout victory of the season on Friday. They put the hurt on Elizabethtown with a sharp 24-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Garden Spot.
It was another big night for Kye Harting, who rushed for 94 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns.
Fleetwood's victory bumped their season record to 4-5 while Solanco's defeat dropped theirs to 3-6.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Solanco has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 309.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Garden Spot struggles in that department as they've been averaging 179.2 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Solanco strolled past Garden Spot in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 35-20. The rematch might be a little tougher for Solanco since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
