The Aloha Warriors will square off against the Lakeridge Pacers at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Aloha is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.4 runs per game this season.
Aloha took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on South Albany with a sharp 15-8 victory. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 12-16), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Brooklyn Sweatman and Nalana Warfield did most of the damage at the plate: Sweatman went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Warfield went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Avery Dimeo, who scored four runs while going 3-for-5.
They weren't the only one making solid contact: Aloha kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, Lakeridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 16-5 to Gresham.
FINLEY DICKSON and MILLIE MACKENZIE did some serious damage despite the final result: DICKSON scored a run while going 2-for-4, while MACKENZIE scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. That run was DICKSON's first of the season. Another player making a difference was REGAN LEE, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
Aloha's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Lakeridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.
Lakeridge's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Aloha hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .354. It's a different story for Lakeridge, though, as they've only averaged .230. Will they be able to contain Aloha's hitters?
