The Covington Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Crawfordsville Athenians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Covington came up short against South Vermillion and fell 68-58. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite their loss, Covington saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Austin Stein, who posted 22 points and five assists, was perhaps the best of all. That's the most points Stein has posted since back in February of 2024. Landon Herzog was another key player, on his way to 15 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, Covington smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Crawfordsville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They took a 66-48 bruising from Danville.
Covington will have to contain Alec Saidian as he made an impact in Crawfordsville's last game. He en route to 21 points and seven boards. Saidian's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Jacob Lee, who put up nine points and five rebounds.
Covington's loss dropped their record down to 10-13. As for Crawfordsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-15.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Covington has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 26.1 boards per game. However, it's not like Crawfordsville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Covington suffered a grim 67-45 defeat to Crawfordsville when the teams last played back in February of 2024. Can Covington avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
