Mission Valley recap September 4, 2013
Fans got a thrill when Nathan Coto and Nico Lozano connected against Los Altos. The connection was good for 84 yards, the longest such play in Mission Valley this season.
El Monte lost to Baldwin Park 47-18 last week, the largest margin of any game. Adrain Cuevas was a bright spot for the Lions, as he threw for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns in the defeat.
Cuevas and Roy Barrajas gave El Monte a balanced attack in passing and rushing last week. Angel Gonzalez also contributed to the rushing game with 34 yards on the ground.
Cuevas and Barrajas gave Joel Sanchez's team a balanced attack through the air and ground last week.
He went 17-34 with 2 interceptions.
Cuevas put up the best numbers through the air as the Lions lost to the Braves. Cuevas' favorite target this week was Barrajas, who caught 8 passes for 173 yards.
Barrajas was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 6 carries, he ran for 61 yards as El Monte fell to the Conquerors.
Lozano was the best wideout in the league this week as the Knights lost to Los Altos. Lozano tallied 4 receptions for 189 yards. Jose Valdivia helped Arroyo's passing attack out by catching 6 balls for 49 yards.
Gabrielino made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,284 from 7,469. The improvement came about via a 23-0 victory over Contreras last week.
