South Fayette is 0-5 against Upper St. Clair since August of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The South Fayette Lions will look to defend their home field against the Upper St. Clair Panthers at 7:00 p.m. South Fayette will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
Last Friday, South Fayette suffered a tough 49-29 defeat at the hands of Bethel Park.
Defeat or not, South Fayette got some senior leadership from Michael Gimigliano who picked up 234 receiving yards and three touchdowns and Nico Lamonde who threw for 418 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Gimigliano was no stranger to the big play, lighting up the secondary with a catch that went for 64 yards.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Upper St. Clair ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They slipped by Moon Area 43-42. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Upper St. Clair to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mason Chambers, who rushed for 133 yards and two touchdowns. Ethan Hellmann was another key contributor, throwing for 146 yards and two touchdowns.
South Fayette now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Upper St. Clair, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-2.
South Fayette was taken down by Upper St. Clair 35-0 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Thankfully for South Fayette, Jamaal Brown (who rushed for 176 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also picked up 55 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
