AAA District 14 recap October 8, 2013
Charles Taylor of Cordova ran for the longest rushing play in AAA District 14 this season against Bartlett last week. Taylor ran for 68 yards on the play and finished with 253 on the day as his team bested the Panthers.
Arlington led the league in scoring this week by notching 45 points on Bolton. Hunter Sheffield threw for 312 yards and 3 touchdowns and caught 1 pass for 11 yards during the win.
Taylor was a force in the backfield as Cordova defeated Bartlett.
He was 22-33 with 0 interceptions.
Chris Collins was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Wildcats lost to the Tigers. The 5-foot-10 defensive back recorded 1 fumble.
Taylor was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 253 yards on 15 carries as Anthony Jones, Jr.'s team beat Jeff McFerran's team. Teammate Lavar Johnson added to the ground attack by rushing for 89 yards.
The leading receiver in the league this season is Ward. The Cordova star has 30 catches for 497 yards.
The Panthers made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 7,262 from 7,522. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 40-27 victory over Bartlett last week.
