Two dominant backs in Raul Gallegos and Ian Pennock are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Northridge Grizzlies will head out on the road to face off against the Severance Silver Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses apiece.
Last Friday, Northridge had to suffer through a rough 42-14 loss at the hands of Resurrection Christian. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Despite the defeat, Northridge had strong showings from Braden Asmus, who picked up 126 receiving yards and a touchdown, and Justin Thill, who rushed for 26 yards and a touchdown. Asmus' longest reception was for an incredible 80 yards.
Meanwhile, Severance came up short against Mountain View on Thursday and fell 17-7.
Pennock put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 85 yards and a touchdown.
The losses dropped Northridge to 5-4 and Severance to 2-7.
Northridge beat Severance 27-19 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northridge since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
